The Garjiya Tourism Zone, added as the sixth zone to the renowned Jim Corbett National Park, offers a unique experience for wildlife enthusiasts. Located in the heart of the Corbett landscape, the zone is home to some of the most diverse and captivating wildlife in India. The park allows a maximum of 30 jeeps per shift during morning and evening safari slots, ensuring a more intimate and immersive experience with nature.

Safari Experience
The Garjiya Zone is primarily known for its stunning jungle safari experience, where visitors can explore the dense forests of Jim Corbett National Park. The safaris are operated only during the non-monsoon season, which runs from October to June. During this period, visitors can enjoy morning and evening shifts. The morning shift typically operates from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, while the afternoon shift is from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM during winter, and from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM during summer. The safari allows you to explore the deep forests, spot wildlife, and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region.

Flora & Fauna in Garjiya Zone
The Garjiya Zone boasts a rich array of flora and fauna. It shares its wildlife diversity with the other zones of Jim Corbett National Park, making it a popular destination for animal lovers. The zone is especially famous for sightings of the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger. Visitors may also come across other key species, such as the Asiatic Elephant, different species of deer (including Sambhar, Barking, Hog, and Spotted Deer), and Wild Boar. Additionally, the Garjiya Zone is a haven for bird watchers. Numerous species of birds can be spotted, including eagles, vultures, and various types of migratory birds. Safari Timing & Entry Details
Pre-booking is mandatory for entry into the Garjiya Zone. Indian nationals need to book their safaris at least 30 days in advance, while foreign tourists are required to make their bookings 45 days ahead of their planned visit. The Garjiya Zone operates with two main entry timings, which vary based on the season:

  • Winter Timing:
    Morning: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM
    Afternoon: 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Summer Timing:
    Morning: 6:00 AM - 9:30 AM
    Afternoon: 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Distance from Ramnagar
The Garjiya Zone is located approximately 9 kilometers from Ramnagar, the nearest town and the main entry point for Jim Corbett National Park. Visitors can reach the zone easily by road from Ramnagar. The safari is conducted exclusively through Jeep tours, which are the only way to explore the zone’s wildlife and scenic beauty. All jeep safaris in the Garjiya Zone are organized and approved by the park authorities.

Best Time to Visit
The Garjiya Zone is best visited between October and June, as the weather during this period is more suitable for safaris. During the monsoon season, from June to September, the zone remains closed due to heavy rainfall and the risk of flooding. The months of October to March are particularly favorable for spotting wildlife, as the cooler weather encourages animals to emerge from the dense forests.

Things to Keep in Mind
- Wear comfortable and neutral-colored clothing for the safari to blend in with the environment.
- Carry binoculars and a camera for wildlife photography.
